Your Turntable, Your Room, Your Records
2dle puts a 3D record player on your Mac desktop and plays along with your music. Put on a song in Spotify, Apple Music or any Mac player, and the record spins, the needle follows along, and the sleeve shows your album. Then make it yours: 6 turntables, 12 scenes, 12 records to collect and clocks to earn. That's the whole idea! (Okay, mostly.)

About the Team
Hey! We're Masashi and Yuki (co-author), two high schoolers with a big love of music. 2dle is our passion project, made with love in our spare time. We're based in Tokyo, Japan.
Why a turntable? Because on a high schooler's budget, we couldn't afford real ones! So we went after that dream the way we love best: by coding it. We've been at it for a few months now, and we're nowhere near done.

Buy Us a Sandwich
2dle is free, and it runs on passion (and sandwiches). It's just the two of us, both still in high school, with not much spare time and even less budget, so every sandwich counts! If 2dle makes your desk a happier place, you can buy us one. Your donation would literally mean the world to us.
Where do the sandwiches go? This website's domain and the databases behind your accounts come straight out of our own pockets. Nobody pays us to make 2dle, so a sandwich really does keep the lights on!
Either way, thank you for stopping by. We really, really appreciate it!

Tell Us What You Think
We care a lot about transparency and community, so we want your opinions on how we can make 2dle better. What you love, what bugs you, what you wish it did: all of it! No kidding, you're the most valued person around here.

Q&A
How do you pronounce 2dle?
“Needle”! 2 is 二 in Japanese, which is read “ni”. Ni-dle. Needle. Yeah, we know.
Is 2dle open source?
Not yet! It would be our very first open-source project, so we hope to get there one day. Community and transparency are what we care about, and it's on our roadmap.
Is 2dle free?
Yep! All of it. We don't believe in freemium or subscriptions. I mean, remember that one time you finished editing a video and the app wanted $9.99 a month just to take its watermark off? Yeah. None of that here. If you'd like to back us, you can buy us a sandwich .
Which music apps does 2dle follow?
Spotify and Apple Music, plus other Mac music apps that tell macOS what they're playing. Music in a web browser doesn't count, sorry!
Why does 2dle ask to control Spotify?
So it can read the album cover and where you are in the song, and so play, pause and skip work. It only politely eavesdrops, promise.
What does 2dle send over the internet?
The artist, album and song you're playing go to public music catalogues (Apple, Deezer and Spotify), so it can find covers, track lists and tempo. Your listening history never leaves your Mac. Turn on Copy Local Weather and your rough location goes to a weather service, and now and then the app asks GitHub if there's a newer 2dle. If you make an account, we also keep your email address, the name you pick and a few usage totals. Add friends, and they see the song you're playing right now and your 2dle stats, unless you switch on Ghost mode. The whole list is on our privacy page !
Does 2dle work offline?
It does! New album covers need a connection, though, so until you're back online 2dle keeps the last cover it has.
Will there be a Windows or Linux version?
We'd love that! Both are on our roadmap. Click Windows or Linux there and leave your email, and we'll tell you the moment it's out!
